The Inner Call of my Pure Michigan Roots
We are currently traveling in Michigan to visit family and friends. Any while we’re having a great time reconnecting, there always seems to be this longing in my soul to visit the beautiful northwest corner of Michigan’s lower peninsula.
For it is here that we find the Leelanau Peninsula with its sweeping views of Lake Michigan, and tiny hamlets dotted around the lakeshore filled with locals and tourists enjoying the fifth largest lake in the world.
In addition to the five ‘great lakes” that surround the state of Michigan, when you head inland you are certain to stumble upon one of Michigan’s nearly 63,000 smaller lakes with their beaches necklaced with simple rustic cottages all the way to the mansions of the rich and famous.
While we love traveling the world to view amazing sights, make new friends, and learn of the world’s history, for me, there is no place that simply feels like home then when I’m staring at Lake Michigan from atop a 500’ bluff.
How about you? Is there a place that for you has this strange inner call?
