As a travel photographer, one of the reasons I was all gaga about our recent Danube Christmas Markets cruise with Viking River Cruises was the opportunity to photograph scenes like this one in Bratislava, Slovakia.

I shot this on December 8th at 4:18 p.m. in the beautiful main square of Old Town Bratislava, which lies along the beautiful river Danube.  As you can see, darkness comes early in Bratislava, and the square was filled with hundreds and hundreds of locals and tourists enjoying the festivities of the Christmas Market.

I’ll be sharing a great many more photos and stories from our trip, but for now, please enjoy this beautiful scene I captured as we approach the Christmas season.
