Cactus Blooms: Scottsdale, Arizona
When to visit Scottsdale, Arizona
Scottsdale, Arizona sits in the Sonoran Desert and for those of you who love the outdoors, spring is a fabulous time to visit. The temperatures are moderate, and the spring cactus bloom is quite a thing to behold.
After the winter rains, the Mexican poppies cover the desert landscape as other wildflowers join in the show and paint our much loved desert in hues of orange, red, yellow, purple, and white. And as we move towards warmer months, the desert succulents join the party and put on a show that simply must be seen to be believed.
Personally, I think that most cactus are fairly homely looking. However, when April and May roll along each year, I am continually shocked with the beauty that comes from within these unprepossessing plants.
Below is a series of photographs I snapped with my iPhone during our morning walks in Scottsdale during the last few months. I hope you enjoy!

We’ll be in Scottsdale Arizona last week April. Hailing from Ontario, have never been to Arizona, and will be here for 9 days of training. I’m photography buff and would love to find places to go. We’ll rent car for the weekend, so want to make best use of our time. Any suggestions on places to photograph that’s not too far from Scottsdale?
