New Ship: American Countess
New Ship: American Countess
In March of 2021, our friends at the American Queen Steamboat Company christened their newest ship, the American Countess.
Interestingly, the ship was built using the existing hull of the Kanesville Queen, a former gaming vessel built in 1995. The American Countess was cut in two as part of her planned lengthening, with the addition of a 60-foot mid-body section.
Before we get started, you should know that the American Queen Steamboat Company is on the list of our favorite river cruise lines. Also, please read the review from our personal experience sailing with the American Queen Steamboat Compay.
Okay, on with the show…
The American Countess has a capacity of 245 guests, She offers many of the same exciting heartland and deep South itineraries as her sisters the American Queen and American Duchess.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample the delicious secrets of Kentucky’s legendary bourbon distilleries, dance to rhythms that were born on the rivers, relive the charm of quaint river towns and enjoy the lively pulse of New Orleans jazz.
What’s most unique about the American Countess is the emphasis on a contemporary design that offers plenty of open space for gathering. Forward-facing windows and the portside bar with an 80-foot view welcome guests to take in the scenery of century-old live oak trees, indigenous wildlife, Civil War historic sites, and vast plantations while sailing along America’s rivers.
With four styles of modern staterooms, higher overheads, and open-air views with a walking track, this paddlewheeler will become a home away from home on six- to 15-day itineraries, including her own epic Mighty Mississippi cruise.
The American Countess’ four decks, including a Sun Deck and 123 comfortable, inviting staterooms, make cruising on this gorgeous paddlewheeler an unforgettable experience. Staterooms feature a sleek and modern design that provides the perfect place to relax after a full day of shore excursions or an evening of world-class performances in The Theater on board.
