Previously, we had enjoyed river cruises in Europe with Viking, and this would be our first ocean cruise. Carol works with an Italian travel agent in Italy which we could contact if we had problems or questions (we had none). The local agent also made restaurant recommendations and reservations at our request for dinner at each location. The restaurants were fantastic. We never had to worry about where we would eat. They were always expecting us and we were usually given a prime seating location. The hotels were boutique hotels we would never have found on our own.
I would highly recommend Roaming Boomers if you are planning a trip to Italy. They go above and beyond to make sure you have a special experience. We will definitely use them again.

We took a 10 day Riviera/Mediterranean Europe Cruise for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We visited may ports and took lots of excursions. We will have memories to last a lifetime from visiting such places as the Vatican to seeing “The David”. Service on the boat was overall very good. Our room was large and comfortable. Our cabin steward made sure we were satisfied at all times. We met many new friends and had an amazing overall experience. Another great perk from booking with the Porters was a private tour with Executive Chef Kelly in the main kitchen of the Voyager.

Roaming Boomers took over a Viking Ocean reservation that I had started. They took over alerting us when payments were due and letting us know when we were able to reserve excursions and restaurants. We had an extension in Venice at the end of the cruise and I requested that Roaming Boomers organize a private guide and a special itinerary while there. We spent an afternoon in a private water taxi cruising the outer islands of Murano and Burano and had an exclusive one-on-one tour of a famous glass factory. We cruised the Grand Canal and many of the small canals where tourists seldom go. The next day we spent four hours walking the non-touristy neighborhoods of Venice where we stopped a couple of times for light meals and cool glasses of wine in local bars. Our guide for both days was excellent and we enjoyed her company as well as her knowledge of the city.

Our trip planning was definitely “smooth sailing”. Carol and David worked with us on a 45-day excursion from Dubai, UAE to Capetown, South Africa with a 5-day extension for a safari. We can not say enough about the way the trip was planned and executed. Arrived 5 days early in Dubai and discovered Dubai and Abu Dabi with a private guide. What an adventure! Well worth it to have the extra days before boarding Oceania Cruise ship Nautica. The ship was very nice, a little dated but I understand Oceania Cruises is in the process of updating their ships. (Looking forward to sailing with them again!). What the ship lacked in updating, the crew, food, and entertainment made up for. Because this was a smaller ship the entertainment was not over the top. We were able to actually meet the performers and get to know a little about them. They were excellent in their production and performance. Very fun to watch and be a part of their shows. The excursions were different than I thought they would be. My expectations were a little too high with what we were able to see. I must say however that all of our time in the different cities was eye-opening and the people of countries we visited were so very kind and welcoming. So very glad we had this opportunity to travel to this part of the world. With all of that said, I have to say the safari was the highlight of the trip. Being an animal and nature lover I can not think of a better way to discover the wonders of Africa.

We had never gone on either a river or an ocean cruise and knew little about how to arrange one. We wanted to do a cruise for our 40th anniversary and I did some online research to find something we’d both enjoy. We decided to do a Viking ocean cruise up the Norwegian coast from Bergen across to the Shetlands, Orkneys, Scotland, an ending in London during the summer solstice. Paris to Normandy on the Avalon was ” a dream come true” trip. We loved the walking tour of Paris that was lined up for us before the river cruise started; the guide was exceptional in his knowledge and humor. The Avalon river cruise ship was comfortable with an outstanding cruise director and staff; we especially enjoyed the stops along the way, particularly Giverny., Monet’s Gardens. The tours that were scheduled were given by very qualified guides. We appreciate how seamless the Porters made this trip for us with our arrival, hotel accommodations, and transportation to and from the port where the cruise ship was docked. We didn’t have much hope for finding anything along the path of the eclipse that was close to the event, but David and Carol found us something in Charleston, SC right away. Carol arranged for private tours in Copenhagen and Stockholm with guides that were very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. She also arranged our private pre and post cruise accommodations in wonderful hotels. The trip was a Baltic cruise on Le Boreal, a high-end small ship. The ship is so nice it would have been a great experience even if we went nowhere. The guest speakers were mostly interesting. It’s hard to pick a highlight with so many great cities, palaces, museums, etc. But our favorite was Stockholm, which may be the most beautiful city we have experienced – but be sure to go in the summer. I would highly recommend the entire trip. Everything was flawless.

We started working with Carol Porter to plan our family’s trip to Italy in December of 2013 and didn’t travel until June of 2014. Carol worked with us to come up with our ideal itinerary and then worked directly with an Italian company that scheduled all of our tours, local transportation and most of our accommodations. Before we left, we received a detailed itinerary with information on where we’d stay, tours and travel and had paid for the large portion of our trip. Once we were off, ll we had left to do was to relax, enjoy and decide where to eat! Our trip of a lifetime was completely customized to our interests, to our family’s stamina level (our children were first-time overseas travelers) and to our budget. Highlights were: a trip to a sheep farm where raw cheese is produced by hand, a gondola ride complete with a serenade that electrified the neighborhoods we traveled through, a tour of a cathedral on top of a cathedral in Assisi, and a dreamy night among olive groves.

We have just completed the trip of a lifetime, starting with a cruise in Alaska and then a 7 day journey through the Canadian Rockies. We left all arrangements, decisions, and planning to Dave and Carol Porter. They created the itinerary from start to finish, keeping in mind our preferences for a seamless relaxing vacation. All details were handled prior to our departure and everything was seamless! Our cruise was spectacular, our hotels were luxurious, our meals were all culinary delights, and our activities were exhilarating! This wasn’t the first time we used the Porters, and it won’t be the last! We’re already planning our next adventure!

Decided on a Wednesday to book a girls trip to Punta Cana leaving on the following Sunday.  So, that night (Wed) I emailed The Roaming Boomers and by Thursday they had booked our trip and got us all settled!  I highly recommend them; it’s evident that they are passionate about what they do and wanted to ensure that we had a fantastic, stress free, girls vacation!  Thank you Dave & Carol!

David (aka Roaming Boomers) seems to find “deals” that I would never know existed (4 day reservation at hotel, while paying for 3) and other such deals make me WANT to use them!!!! Give them one shot and you will never do it yourself or use another Travel a Agent. Worth your investment!!!!!!
