The Last Supper, Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci painted the Last Supper in 1495-98. And behind the Mona Lisa hanging in the Louvre is his second most famous painting.
As you can see in my photograph above, the painting commands the end wall of the dining hall at the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy.
As a child growing up in the midwest, da Vinci’s Last Supper was my first introduction to the world of art as my mother had a copy of it hanging on the wall in our living room.

To view the painting, you must conform to the following rules:
- Purchase your tickets in advance
- You will be part of a fixed number of people allowed to visit at a time
- You will have 15-minutes to view the painting
- You must show up at the museum’s ticket counter no less than 30-minutes before the start of your scheduled visit.
- And during the pandemic, you must also show proof of full vaccination.
