This is a photograph that we captured of the world famous Roman Colosseum.
Our Walks of Italy tour guide told us that nearly 4,000,000 people visit this structure each year to visit the arena where the famous Roman Gladiators risked their lives in front of 50,000 cheering spectators.
The structure in the right foreground is the Arch of Constantine (315 AD) built to commemorate the victory of Constantine I’s victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge on October 28, 312.
In the foreground to the left is an ongoing archeological excavation where they are finding fascinating structures underneath the Palatine Hill from which I shot this photograph.
